Local craft beer specialists The Drinking Partners will be showcasing selections from their range of craft breweries, while artisan tea blenders Gryphon Tea Company will be overseeing a tea tasting table with some of their very finest teas and tisanes.

For full details on the workshops, as well as who and what is on display at CRAFT, please head to our Facebook event.

THURSDAY 26/9 (6pm - 11pm):

CRAFT kicks off with a poetry slam organised by Word Forward. For those uninitiated with slam poetry, it is a competitive original spoken word event that pits poets against each other over three rounds. Judges are picked from the audience. Audience members can head to A for Arbite for dinner before heading straight in to the poetry slam.

FRIDAY 27/9 (6pm - 11pm):

Friday night is the Homebrew Beer Evening, from 6pm onwards, featuring a number of home brewers discussing and serving up their creations for all to taste and match with A for Arbite’s a la carte menu. After dinner will feature musical performances over in the Aliwal Arts Centre auditorium, with the restaurant remaining open for orders until 10pm.

SATURDAY 28/9 (11am - 11pm):

A for Arbite will be transformed into a mini-hall for the first full day of CRAFT, including an all-day outdoor (weather permitting) picnic. Visitors will be able to try some of the new A for Arbite menu items (not to mention tea from Gryphon Tea Company) and check out the things on display, from a corner decorated by design and textiles duo Fictive Fingers, to sculpting and model making by the multi-talented David "BlueWolfe" Liew, to sprawling interactive artwork by American artist Lindsey Bailey, A.K.A Cake Crush.

Wordforward will be running a workshop titled The Craft of Poetry, from 10am to 12pm. This workshop focuses on considering what makes a poem tick and how to write poems more powerfully.

From 2 pm they will also be featuring a collaborative experience known as PostScripted - a chance to engage with poets and prose writers and play a part in the creation of a poem or prose piece. Then, from 6.30 pm, join Marc Nair, Nabilah Husna and Jasmine Cooray, three experienced performance poets who will be performing original work in The Language Hospital, a spoken word showcase.

The Drinking Partners will be onsite to share their knowledge of Belgium’s finest beer, with a wide selection of bottled beer as well as some very special beers on tap, from brewers such as Palm, Lindemans, and Steenbrugge Abbey.

SUNDAY 29/9 (11am - 9pm):

The final day will see a number of workshops taking place in the adjoining hall. Many of the exhibitors will still have stalls inside A for Arbite, with the exciting addition of polymer clay miniature models made by AiClay.

Recently Singapore has seen a big spark of interest in craft beers, and A for Arbite is one of only a handful of restaurants that take it to the next level by developing a pairing menu for food and beer. At this workshop, co-presented by A for Arbite and The Drinking Partners, attendees will have the chance to appreciate and learn more about food and beer pairing, including the ways to recognise and describe the bouquet, palate and mouthfeel of beers, and how different beers compliment, contrast or cut with different dishes. There will, of course, be food and beer to drink so this one is for ages 18+!

Sourcemake and MaterialiseIT will be presenting a seminar called 3D Printing Demystified, which is an overview of 3D Printing, what people can do with it and how to start enjoying it. Little Craft Loft will be running a kids-friendly workshop called 'Custom Cake Topper and Wooden Doll Making', a great chance to create meaningful gifts that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Word Forward will have a Writers Session featuring Samantha de Silva, author of The Daywalker Chronicles. This writer's session aims to provide a platform for writers to craft a story, share their work and discuss the writers' craft with the featured writer and fellow participants.
